On November 8, Bridgewater voters will have a real choice: keep “politics as usual” or elect an independent, a mayor who is not aligned with party politics.
Bridgewater residents have had 8 years of politics as usual. The result? Reassessment with big increases in property taxes. A $35 million dollar debt for an oversized municipal building that we did not need. An unannounced requirement to make lump sum payment for sewer bills. Expensive car repairs because roads were not properly maintained. Road safety markers worn away and unreadable. Drainage problems in many neighborhoods. Bulky trash removal eliminated. Restricted opportunity to speak at public meetings. The loss of services that used to bring the community together, e.g., the Halloween Trail.
Bridgewater is my home; I am a life-long resident. More than a thousand residents have told me about the unresolved problems they have encountered. They want their concerns addressed, and the regular party politicians are not listening. I know Bridgewater better than any other candidate and have the proven leadership to correct the problems. An entrepreneur, I established and ran a business that over 18 years created jobs for hundreds of people. A graduate of Bridgewater-Raritan High School I benefited from the excellent teachers, went on to serve in the Air Force and for over 25 years was a Bridgewater police officer recognized for heroism, have been a volunteer fireman for 40 years and have served on the County Hazardous Waste Response Team for 24 years. In addition, I have served as an officer in several organizations of firefighters.
Over many years, my proven abilities and dedication to Bridgewater have been recognized by appointments to the Planning Board, Board of Adjustment, Environmental Commission, and zoning officer. But as a zoning officer, I was repeatedly frustrated by the administration—politics as usual.
Whom you elect as your next Mayor will determine how well your tax dollars are spent. As an independent, I promise to listen to you and ensure accountability for your tax dollars. I ask for your vote on November 08.
